On May 1st, 2025, the Institute of Hospitality, Management & Sciences (IHMS), Kotdwar, marked International Labour Day with a meaningful outreach program in Aita village, Duggada, under the banner of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. The event was coordinated by Mr. Pradeep Bhatt, the Programme Co-Coordinator (PI), with enthusiastic participation from IHMS student volunteers. The objective was to honor the dedication of rural workers and promote a spirit of community engagement.

The visit featured interactive discussions with village representatives on rural development, the dignity of labour, and the impact of ongoing initiatives under Unnat Bharat Abhiyan. A special highlight of the day was an awareness session led by Mr. Surendra Singh Jagwan, Head of the Department of Management, who sensitized the villagers on crucial topics like cyber fraud prevention and digital arrest scams, providing practical guidance on safeguarding personal information in the digital age. He also shared insights into various government schemes aimed at improving the socio-economic conditions of rural communities.

The IHMS team concluded the visit by distributing refreshments, further cementing a bond of trust and mutual respect with the villagers. This impactful celebration not only recognized the contributions of rural labourers but also empowered them with valuable knowledge — embodying IHMS’s commitment to social responsibility and inclusive development.
