IHMS Organized Shikshak Samman Samaroh

Teachers received recognition for their outstanding and significant contributions at the “Shikshak Samman Samaroh” event hosted by Institute of Hospitality, Management & Sciences – IHMS, Kotdwar on April 19, 2023. Mr. Pramod Kumar, SDM Kotdwar, was the program’s chief guest. T

The chief guest and management lit the lamp to kick off the program. The chief guest congratulated every teacher and encouraged them to continue working with the same approach, saying that skill-based education will contribute to help the country become self-sufficient. Guest speaker Mrs. Preeti Rani (Professor, PG Degree College, Kotdwar) also encouraged and congratulated the teachers on achieving this prestigious award.

Finally, the national anthem concluded the program. All teachers appreciated IHMS for hosting such a wonderful event.

IHMS Annual Fest “GOONJ-2023”

The annual festival “GOONJ-2023” was organized on 16th April 2023 at the Institute of Hospitality, Management & Sciences – IHMS, Kotdwar campus.

The program was inaugurated by lighting the lamp by the Chief Guest, Director of General Forest (Retd.) (Dr. Sharad Singh Negi) & his wife (Mrs. Manju Negi), Managing Director (Mr. B.S. Negi) & his wife (Mrs. Purnima Negi), Executive Director (Mr. Ajay Raj Negi), Director of Administration (Lt. Col. B. S. Gusain (Retd.), and Director Academics (Mr. Sunil Kumar).

The vibrant and scintillating performance of the students enthralled everyone. This program has also been appreciated by the parents of the girl students. Many students received awards like Student of the Year (Ms. Khushi Gusain), Staff of the Year (Mr. Chandra Ballabh Bahukhandi), and Topper of the Year. In the end, the chief guest wished all the students a happy and prosperous future. The program was hosted by HoD Hotel Management and concluded with a Vote of Thanks by the Cultural Committee Chairman.

A Yoga workshop was organized at the Institute of Hospitality, Management & Sciences – IHMS, Kotdwar. Dr. Ajay Bhardwaj, Amity University, Rajasthan apprised the teachers and students about the important facts of yoga and also explained various methods of yoga to lead a healthy life. He told that by making the body, mind, and brain calm and cool through yoga, a person can increase his age limit.

Taj Group of Hotels and Resorts organized a campus placement drive for HOT and HOMT programs across India at the Institute of Hospitality, Management & Sciences – IHMS, Kotdwar. Which included participation from Dehradun’s universities and institutions.

Ms. Kiran Bhatt (HR), and Deepak Kumar (HR) from Taj Group of Hotels and Resorts after conducting interviews with everyone, decided to hire IHMS and Dev Bhoomi students as Management Trainees.

INDUSTRIAL VISIT 2023

HMS, Kotdwar, organized an industrial visit to companies like Mother Dairy Processing Unit, Delhi, and Tech Mahindra Company, Noida, on March 29–30, 2023. It was a great learning opportunity for students and professionals interested in the field of food processing and information technology.

Mother Dairy is a leading manufacturer and supplier of milk and milk-based products in India. A visit to their plant helped students understand the various stages of milk processing, packaging, and distribution. They also learned about the safety measures and quality control procedures followed by the company to ensure that their products are of the highest quality.

On the other hand, Tech Mahindra is a multinational information technology company that offers various services like IT consulting, software development, and digital transformation to its clients. A visit to their facility provided valuable insights into the latest technologies and tools used in the industry. Students also learned about the work culture, project management, and team collaboration in the IT industry.

During the visit, students and professionals interacted with the employees and management of both companies to gain a better understanding of their operations, challenges, and opportunities. They can also ask questions and seek advice on various aspects of the industry.

“Business Talking Titans Speech Competition”

Department of business management of the Institute of Hospitality Management & Sciences, Kotdwar, organized the “Business Talking Titans Speech Competition” for BBA Department on 24 February 2023 at 11 am in the AV room. The aim of this competition is to evolve the communication skills among the students the future leaders. This initiative is envisioned to identify young, powerful communicators and leaders who can communicate their thoughts to inspire the youth and other students.
The total number of participants was 24. Students were asked to pick a topic. Every participant was given precisely 1 day to prepare the speech on their selected topic. The parameter for the judgment was the introduction, pronunciation, facts & figures, confidence, and presentation. These are the topics for the speech.
Topics:
1: Union Budget 2023.
2: Young Entrepreneurs
3: The Economic Impact of the Russia-Ukraine War on India
4: Management of Personal Finance
5: The role of creativity and innovation in business
6: Role of News agencies in society
7: Digitization in Education
8: Green Business: An urgency to save future

The total time allotted for the speech was 3 to 5 minutes. The judges of the competition were Mr.Surendra Singh Jagwan (HOD of Management), Mr. Pranjal Rawat, and Mrs. Mamta from the Management department.
The following students scored the First, second and third positions in the Business Talking Titans Speech Competition.

The winners were awarded certificates and medals from Col. B.S.Gusain (Director of Administration), Mr. Ajay Raj Negi (Executive Director), Mr. Parveen Tripathi (HOD of CS Dept), Mr.Surendra Jagwan (HOD of Management). The competition concluded successfully with great words of encouragement and appreciation from the Director of Administration Col.B.S.Gusain.
