In which Mr. Ajay, Assistant Professor, Hotel Management Department of IHMS Institute, Kotdwar gave information about the methods and behavior of having food at the table. Workshop was organized for all teaching and non teaching staff.

Guest lecture on Ergonomics

For the first time IHMS, Kotdwar, organised a guest lecture on Ergonomics – A way to maintain healthy life. The lecture was deliberated by Dr. Shivani Lall (Senior Physiotherapist) which emphasized on common problems and their ergonomic solutions related to neck pain, back pain, knee pain etc. She also taught simple exercises to get rid of these pains. The lecture ended with personal discussions with students and faculty of their pains/problems.

On 18 November 2022, a Special 99 Maggi event was organized at the Institute of Hospitality Management and Sciences, which was sponsored by Nestlé Company. Various types of Maggi dishes were prepared and served on this occasion. In which Maggi Samosa, Maggi Paratha, Maggi Pizza and Maggi Moose in dessert, Maggi related dishes were prepared. The chief guest of the program, HR Manager of Hotel Hyatt Residency, Mr. Nikhil Raje and special guest, Assistant HR Manager, Miss Jaya Yadav, and Principal of Heritage School, Kotdwar, Mrs. Rupananda Singh were present as the keynote speaker.

Stress Management Session 2022

A stress management session was organized at the Institute of Hospitality and Sciences, in which Dr. Neelima Chauhan, HoD, Department of Buddhist Studies, Rasbihari Bose Subharti University, Dehradun, and Dr. Shaw Hatut Sandar, from Myanmar, who is working as an advisor and associate professor in Subharti today. In Stressful Life, time management, changing in working habit and style and stress free mind were told about how we can be stress free about all these things. Dr. Shaw described meditation as a simple way to remove all the stress.

India’s most awaited and exciting culinary challenge for students of hospitality, Better kitchen Culinary Challenge Season 4 was organized at Intra level in Institute of Hospitality, Management & Sciences – IHMS, Kotdwar. Students of final year showcase their skills and creativity, bringing out the rich culture of India. Top 3 teams will participate in Inter level on 28th November,2022. Mrs. Pooja Bisht AGM, Godwin Group of Hotels and Mr. Sushil Kumar GM, Godwin Hotel Haridwar were judges in this competition.

In Masala Stories challenge  Team Diwakar Rawat & Deepak Kumar Dhaundhiyal secure first place. Sumit Rawat & Rajan, Team AkashRawat & Rishi Barhwal secure 2nd and 3rd place respectively.

In Perfect plate (non fire ) Students of BBA III Prateek Bauthiyal and Abhinav,Students of BHM I Prashant and Ahutosh and Students of BCA I Sakshi Rawat and Diksha Rawat got First,Second,Third place respectively.

Institute of Hospitality, Management and Sciences organized a workshop on “Futuristic Cloud Computing in Intelligent Systems” for CS & IT students. The workshop mainly focused on virtualization and effect of cloud computing on web application. At the end our hon’ble Resource Person Prof. (Dr.) Rajeev Kumar from GL Bajaj Institute of Technology & Management, Greater Noida, Uttar Pradesh, shared his knowledge with our faculty members on Research Writing Ethics and publication.

1st National Conference on 8th October 2022

Institute of Hospitality, Management and Sciences, Kotdwar, organized 1st National Conference on 8th October 2022 and got grand success because of the participants, awardees and presenters who came from different states of India like Uttarakhand, Himanchal Pradesh, Haryana, Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Assam, Sikkim etc.
First session of the conference started with
Garlanding the statue of Shri Balbhadra Singh Negi Ji, Lamp Lighting and Saraswati Vandana in front of Hon’ble Chief Guest: Speaker of Uttarakhand Legislative Assembly Mrs. Ritu Khanduri Bhushan, Guest of Honour: General Manager “Taj Group of Hotels” – Mr. Amit Kumar, Key Note Speaker: Associate Professor, Shobhit University – Dr. Evgeniya Zharikova. Fifteen teachers from various Indian Universities/ Colleges/ Institutes from different fields of Culinary Art, Food & Beverage Management, Accommodation Operation, Bakery & Confectionery, Tourism Management, English Language, Accountacny and Financial Management etc. were awarded with the “Best Teacher” award by the Chief Guest. Hon’ble madam enlightened the session with her motivational words and appreciated the efforts of IHMS staff for organising such a big national event in Kotdwar after Covid-19.
During the conference IHMS organising team and management proudly launched its two books by the hands of Hon’ble Chief guest – First on – “The taste of Uttarakhand” – written by Chef Pankaj Kukreti & Chef Vijay Pant, and Second a conference edited book: “Challanges and Opportunities in the Industry and Academics” with the ISBN 978-93-94779-51-8.
The session ended with vote of thanks along with delicious & authentic dishes of Garhwali cusine for lunch. All Guests and delegates enjoyed Garhwali food.

The Institute of Hospitality Management and Sciences, Department of Business Management, Kotdwar, organized its Fourth “Interschool Business Quiz” dated 09-09-2022. In this event, 13 schools participated from Kotdwar and Najibabad regions naming Gyan Bharti Public School, R.C.D Public School, M.K.V.N Senior Secondary School, Baluni Public School, Navyug Public School, S.G.R.R Public School, Happy Home Senior Secondary School, M.V.M Public School, Bal Bharti Senior Secondary School, T.C.G Public School, Daffodils Senior Secondary School, R.P Public School, Gurukul International Academy

The program started from 10:00 am to 1:30 pm at AV Lab of IHMS Kotdwar.

The session was started by the Director of Administration (Lt.Col.B.S Gosain), Director of Academics (Mr. Sunil Kumar), Head of Department (Mr.Surendra Jagwan), Ms. Yogita Bansal, and all the respected faculties from various schools by lamp lighting and taking the blessings of Goddess Saraswati.

There was a total of 10 rounds including a rapid-fire round namely a Business quiz, General Awareness, Brand Logos, Business Personalities, Advertisements, Abbreviations, Current Affairs, Tag lines, Governing bodies, etc.

Event Outcome: The event helped the students to gain knowledge relevant to the topic and also gave them the opportunity to interact with the group and how to handle the question and answer session. This event also helped students in gaining confidence and also to work in a team to make their team near victory. The event winded up with the Top three schools whose marks were highest they were as follows:

  1. The first position was secured by the Students of Baluni Public School
  2. The second position was secured by the Students of R.C.D Public School
  3. The third position was secured by the students of S.G.R.R Public School
