BBA after 12th: Subjects, Skills and Career Paths

A three-year BBA is open to Class 12 students from any stream. Here is what you study, the skills you build and where it can lead.

A BBA (Bachelor of Business Administration) is one of the most flexible degrees you can choose after Class 12. It is open to students from any stream, it teaches how businesses actually work, and it leads naturally to an MBA if you want to go further.

Who can apply?

Any student who has passed Class 12 can apply, whether you studied arts, commerce or science. At IHMS Kotdwar, the BBA follows the NEP syllabus of Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University, has 60 seats and costs ₹2.6 lakh for the full three years.

What you study

The first year builds your base with principles of management, accounting, business statistics, communication, economics and an introduction to artificial intelligence.

In the second year you study cost accounting, human resource management, management information systems, operations, finance and research methods. At the end of the year you complete an eight-week internship, which is often the first time students see a business from the inside.

In the third year you choose electives in Finance, Marketing or HR, and study strategy, supply chain management and taxation. The degree ends with a major project and a viva.

Skills you build

Beyond the subjects, a BBA teaches you to present an idea, work in a team, read a balance sheet and make decisions based on numbers rather than guesswork. Presentations, case studies and the internship are where most of this learning happens.

Career paths after BBA

BBA graduates usually start in sales and business development, marketing, HR, banking and insurance, operations or accounts. Some join a family business or start their own. Many work for a few years and then take an MBA to move into management roles.

BBA or B.Com?

B.Com focuses more on accounting, taxation and commerce. BBA focuses on management: how to lead teams, market products and plan a business. If you are sure about a career in accounts or chartered accountancy, B.Com may suit you. If you want broader management skills, BBA is the better fit.
